We are so glad you are here! You have taken an important first step. You are probably asking yourself a big question right now: Why do I need a personal relationship with Jesus?
To make a long story short, God created man to live on earth in absolute paradise. But, man messed it up by sinning. Because God cannot have any sin in His presence, this act of sin by man brought an eternal death into the world. Every single person who has ever lived has sinned. We were all born sinners. This means we must also die, having our souls separated from God forever. However, God loved us so much He didn’t want us to be separated from Him forever.
So, He provided a way out, a way to escape this eternal separation from God. All we have to do is have a personal relationship with Jesus and believe what the Bible teaches us.
Ok, sounds simple enough. But in reality, how do you get to know Jesus and have a relationship with Him?
The answer to that lies in our everyday lives. Ask yourself, what do you desire from a personal relationship with anyone? You probably want to spend quality time with them, to trust that person with your needs and to know you will forgive each other when you hurt each other’s feelings. Surely you want to have open communication with them and an honest relationship in the good times and the tough times. All of this is called friendship. It is what we all desire in our relationships with other people.
The good news is, you can have this kind of relationship with Jesus.
Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary. He was a teacher, a prophet and a really good man. All of this you may have already known. But, did you know He is also God’s Son? God sent Him to live in a human body and experience all the things we experience. Starting at about the age of 30, Jesus taught about God for three years. Then, Jesus made a decision that will change your life forever. He allowed himself to be crucified on a wooden cross for you. He took everyone’s sins with him into his death (that is a lot of sin). For three days after he died, Jesus was totally separated from God because of our sins. Three days later, He rose from the tomb and was alive! He was no longer seperated from God! He overcame the eternal death our sins caused Him because He himself had never sinned, not even one tiny sin, ever!. Now, because of what Jesus chose to do, you also can escape this eternal death. All you have to do is believe Jesus did this for you. This is why it is so important that you get to know Him. Your eternity depends on it. Jesus is waiting to be your best friend. He will never pressure you into this friendship. He is waiting for you to ask him into your life. It must be your choice. When you do this, Jesus will intercede for you when you stand before God on judgment day. You will be in Heaven someday because you chose to believe in Jesus.
If you are still not certain, please click here to skip to the form below. Someone will contact you and answer any questions you have. We are here to bring the good news of Jesus to the world, one life at a time. And like Jesus, we won’t pressure you. We want to answer any questions you have.
If you are still reading, then you must understand how important getting to know Jesus is and are ready to ask Him into your life. You can do this by praying a prayer similiar to this one:
Dear God, I acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe that He was born of the Virgin Mary. I believe that He died on the cross, that His blood was shed for my sins and that He arose from the dead. I confess that I have disobeyed your commandments. I ask you to forgive me for these sins. I now ask Jesus to come into my heart. Be my Savior. Be my Lord. Be my soon coming King. I will do my best to obey your teachings as recorded in the Bible. Thank you, in Jesus name. Amen
Congratulations! You have made such an important decision for your life, both now and for eternity. The Bible says the angels in heaven rejoice over each soul that is saved.
OK, now what do you do? You prayed to ask Jesus into your heart, and made the decision to have a personal relationship with Him. What is the next step? Well, as with every relationship, this one will take effort. Make sure you continue to pray about all aspects of your life. God hears every prayer you utter with your heart. Next, read your Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, we would love to give you one. Also, finding others who believe in Jesus and the Bible really helps. Having friends in your life that will pray with you and for you, will read the Bible with you and grow in Christ love with you is a very important part of being Jesus’ friend.
Another important thing to do is find a Bible believing church. Going to church gives you a chance to worship God and meet more people that believe in Christ. We would love for you to visit the Soldotna Church of God. We strive to help each person develop a closer relationship with Jesus. More importantly, we want you to pray about the decision and let God lead you where He wants you. Only He knows His plans for you.
Finally, we would love for you to let us know about your wonderful decision. Please fill out the form below, and click "I accepted Christ today."
